Saving Money On Airfare

You will be most likely flying into Orlando International Airport (MCO). From here you will be able to take advantage of Disney's Magical Express free transportation system from the airport to the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. At this point, Disney does not offer Disney's Magical Express from other airports.

There are many factors to consider when finding the lowest ticket price. Although the challenge of getting a good price is increasing with rising fuel costs, the airlines know that they need a full plane to make money. With that said, understand that an airlines pricing structure provides for a limited number of low discount fares, a small number of really high priced fares, and a large collection of everything in between. That means you could have paid $200 for your seat and the person next to you, same row, could have paid $800 or more. Keeping that in mind, here are some tips to maximize your chances of getting a great fare.

Find Discounted Days During Peak Season-

It's a Disney trip and you are probably going to be a slave to school vacations which means peak travel season. If you have the flexibility to leave mid week (a few days early), you will probably catch a break. Holidays like Christmas Day are often considered off peak during the peak season. So shop your dates around and expect weekends to be more expensive than weekdays. Tuesday and Thursdays can often save you a few dollars as well.

Discount Times On Peak Days-

If you want to get that first flight out and the last return flight back be sure to book early as the discounted fares for these highly popular times will be limited to only a handful.  On the other hand, flights that leave later in the day going to Orlando will be less expensive and the flights returning home that leave earlier in the day will also be less expensive.

Regional Airports-

The smaller airports typically have many advantages over the major hubs. You can typically find cheaper airfare, parking is cheaper, easy in/easy out, just to name a few. For me, I travel almost double the time for the better service of the regional airports in my neck of the woods. Also, Orlando Sandord International Airport has earned a reputation of servicing startup airlines and discount airlines such as Allegiant and DirectAir to name a few. You can't take the Magical Express from Sanford, however there are several transportation options from Sanford available, include the Mears.

Don't Wait Until The Last Minute-

Don't expect prices to drop as the departure date gets closer. Airlines work the opposite, their prices increase, often triple or quadruple in the last month.
