Interesting Tid Bits You Might Find Useful...

Food-

We traveled with an infant this last time and decided to have all of our baby necessities delivered to our room. The service we used was the GardenGrocer.com. I found that while their food selection is quite good, variations like flavors and sizes was limited and some of their prices are a little higher than what you might pay at home. However, we were able to order premixed formula, baby food, diapers, wipes and more to help keep our suitcase light. They deliver right to the front desk. If you have not arrived yet or are not in your room, guest services will store your food, including refrigerate any perishables, for you until you can pick them up. There is a nominal delivery charge for this service, but I felt is was worth it.

Hospital or Urgent Care-

Unfortunately, we also had the opportunity to experience Florida healthcare during our last trip. I say unfortunately because nobody like the emergency room on vacation. But, Disney also has this covered. Because there was no onsite care at the time, we were referred to an urgent care clinic in Orlando. They offer a free shuttle van to and from the clinic up until 10pm. If arrived by shuttle, they will get you back no matter the time, but pickups end at 10pm. This is about as far as Disney was able to help us. However, they did not take our insurance so we were faced with the option of paying out of pocket or going to the emergency room. We chose the emergency room in Celebration, FL. On our own, we called a cab as this is the only transportation available (besides an ambulance). The emergency room visit did take much longer than we anticipated, but nonetheless, we were able to get a cab back to the hotel. We would have ended up in the emergency room anyway, but it was nice to know the Disney has a plan to cope with these types of guest issues.

Prescriptions-

After our emergency room visit, we needed to have 1 prescription filled. There is a pharmacy that not only fills the prescriptions, but they also deliver it to the front desk. You do have to pay out of pocket and then submit a claim to your insurance, but the small delivery charge was well worth it in order to avoid a cab fare and loss of time.

Reward Credit Cards-

If you are in the habit of paying off your credit cards monthly, then a reward credit card might be something to consider. Disney offers a reward card through Chase Visa. It is the Chase Visa Disney Rewards Card. Capital One also offers a No Hassle Rewards Credit Card. And most airlines offer a frequent flyer card that helps you earn credits towards free or reduced flights.

Chase Visa Disney Rewards Card gives you one Disney Reward dollar for every $100 you charge. The Disney Reward Dollars can only be used for Disney such as Room, Tickets, Meals, and more. Depending on how often you use your Disney Reward Credit Card, you can subsidize your whole trip, or keep it for special things like renting a boat on Bay Lake.

Capital One No Hassle Rewards Card gives you the same 1% back, however you can choose to spend it however you want. You may choose to have a check sent to you, have it roll into paying your balance off, or use it towards rewards travel through Capital One.

Airline Frequent Flyer Credit Cards are sometimes a good deal, however I have found these cards typically have annual fees associated with them. In the end, you may find that the cost of the annual fee evens out any rewards you may have accumulated.
